JSL Electronics have for over twelve years performed expert repairs to high end hi fi and home cinema components, including five years servicing of Moon Audio equipment for Renaissance Audio.

We hold service accounts for most hi end hi fi manufacturers including Arcam, Denon, Linn, Yamaha, and many others. We are a Yamaha authorised service agent.

JSL Electronics proprietor Jim started out his career in 1977 under an apprenticeship with Rediffusion. There he gained a solid foundation in valve theory. This skill would later become very useful in the repair of valve amplifiers.

Believe it or not though, Jim’s first repairs were on Amstrad tower systems (Lord Sugar you have a lot to answer for!) During this time he also worked with Panasonic, Hitachi, and Sanyo music centres.

After seven years, Jim moved on to work for Lasksys Audio in Glasgow. Laskys were bought out by Service Point, and Service Point in turn were bought out, and run down, by Granada. During this time Jim had become a senior and engineer specialist, working with video camera and laser disc equipment in addition to hi fi and VCR. He had also taken evening classes to develop expertise in video and the up and coming CD, gaining City and Guild certificates in digital techniques.

From Lasksys/Service Point/Granada, Jim moved to DSC Electronics. The highlight at DSC was training under Pioneer Hi Fi’s head of technical training, Ken Clements.

Jim left DSC to start his own service business, initially doing repairs for Bill Hutcheson on brands such as Marantz, Pioneer, and Quad.

Throughout the years, Jim has gained a deep respect and admiration for high end hi fi equipment. His passion is to do a full refurbishment of a component, bringing it back to the original manufacturer specification.
